Social media is a powerful tool in any content marketing strategy. While some new freelancers and service providers look to sites like UpWork and Fiverr to make their first sales, the most successful coaches, virtual assistant and social media managers know that signing clients through social media is the most powerful way to make a sale.

When you leverage social media to gain followers and turn them into clients, you hold the power. You position yourself as the go-to expert your ideal clients need and you can leverage the expertise to charge a premium.

The question most entrepreneurs ask is, “How can I find my first client?”

The short answer… social media.

Let’s talk about 5 steps you can leverage to gain new followers and turn them into paying clients.

5 STEPS TO MAKING YOUR CONTENT CONVERT

1. Become a hub of information.

When your ideal client is first looking to solve their problem, they’re probably not yet in a “buying” mode yet. They’re often just looking for information.

So instead of asking yourself, “How can I get more followers?” Ask, “What is my ideal client looking for?”

Maybe if you’re a virtual assistant, you’re ideal client is wondering how they can have better systems, how to automate their social media, how to manage their calendar or even how to know when it’s time to hire a VA.

If you’re a social media manager, you dream client might search for information about Instagram’s latest updates, when is the best time to post or other insights you can provide about best practices.

Your first step is to show every new person who lands on your profile that you’re hub of information that has the answers to all the questions they’ve been thinking about.

2. Show your followers they have a problem.

While your new followers are aware they need some information, they might not know the exact nature of their problem.

Your job is to ease your new followers into the problem awareness phase.

When your new dream client follows you, they might know that they are tired, they spend too much time on social media, they wise they had more time for clients and they can’t seem to do all the things on their to do list.

However, they might not have chalked all that up to the fact that they need to hire a VA or a Social Media Manager to make their life easier.

Your job is to use your content to show them that what they are dealing with right now isn’t normal.

Once you make them realize their current struggles aren’t normal, they’ll start wondering how to fix it… and that’s where you come in.

3. Make them believe you can solve their problem.

Once your followers know their current situation doesn’t haven’t to remain their reality, you need to make them trust that you can solve this problem.

As you work through this step, you’ll want to make your followers solution aware.

If they know it’s not normal to feel exhausted about their business, you need to highlight all the ways a VA might make their business less exhausting.

If they know it’s not normal to hate their job, you need to highlight all the ways a Life Coach might help them find a career that gives them a sense of purpose.

You’ll also want to create content that highlights your expertise in your field and all the ways you help your clients sort through the problems you face.

4. Present your expert solution.

Next up in your master content converting plan, you need to present your expert solution. This is where you highlight all the ways your offer, packages and services help your followers solve the problem you’ve been talking about for so long.

You show them how your services can change their life, give them better results or change their thinking.

Of course, followed up with a call to action that encourages them to take the next steps in inquiring about your service.

5. Handle objections.

Just because your followers know they have a problem and know that you can solve it, doesn’t mean they’re yet convinced to purchase your solution.

Your last step in writing converting content is addressing all of your ideal client’s objections in various posts to ensure they come to you ready to buy!
