A Love Letter to My Readers

“Don’t give your advice away for free.” A piece of advice I received that’s been stuck in my mind lately. Funny enough, that was free advice. Turns out advice from hypocrites is not good advice.

It’s a statement that’s rooted in scarcity. It’s like saying if your advice is free, then you’ll get nothing in exchange for giving it away. It makes you feel like people only want to take advantage of you. It’s deciding that if you can’t get paid for your advice then the universe won’t meet your needs.

That one sentence shoved me deep into a scarcity mindset and I’ve decided to break free. Money is abundant. Resources are abundant. I am safe and taken care of.

When I first created Intuitive Diaries, I kept all the Intuitive Confidential entries private. The only way to access my deep dark thoughts, reflections, and real-time stories was by paying for them. I thought this was a way to get recognition and confirm that people actually wanted to hear the stories I had to tell.

“If you’re willing to pay me, I’m willing to sit down and tell you my real, authentic story.” I would say.

The thing is, I don’t need you to pay me to share my story. You wanting to know about my life is enough for me to tell you about it.

It’s not about never giving your advice away for free because you’re afraid you won’t get anything in return. At least, not for me. It’s about saving your advice and your stories for people who appreciate them. That appreciate can come in many forms.

For me appreciation looks like reading an entire post to the end, coming back to see new entries, liking my posts, commenting on my stories, telling your friends about me, or even sharing my blog to your own social media platforms.

If you’ve valued my writing and my stories enough to donate, that’s just mother effing icing on the cake! You valuing my stories and thoughts is enough. Enough for me to keep writing as long as the universe keeps providing me with the resources to do so.
